What is an ESD Coordinator?

The ESD Coordinator is a person appointed by an organisation with the responsibility for implementing and overseeing the requirements of BS EN 61340-5-1:2007. The role requires the full support of senior management, access to adequate resources and a working knowledge of the technical and procedural requirements of the Standard.

Responsibilities include:

• establishment of an ESD Control Program Plan
• establishment of a Compliance Verification Plan, setting out a program of audits and periodic tests using specified equipment, with documented results
• tailoring the requirements of the standard to the specific needs of the organisation, based on technical and operational needs, with documented specification of items required for ESD Protected Areas and overseeing installation and commissioning
• ensuring that ESD training is in accordance with the Plan, with documented records.
